HAMBURGER PIE---Easy to make and yummy.
MAKES 8 SERVINGS.
1 tbs oil
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 carrots, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbs Worcestershire
8 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1 egg
Pastry for 1 double crust 9" pie
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet. WARM oil in a skillet. Cook beef until no longer pink. Remove to a bowl. Drain all but 1 tbs fat from skillet. Add onion, carrots, and celery, saute 5 min. Add garlic, saute 1 min. Transfer to bowl with beef, stir in Worcestershire, tomato sauce, and cheddar. Season. Let cool slightly. Beat egg in a bowl with 1 tsp water. ROLL out 1 pastry sheet, fit into a 9" pie plate. Place on lined baking sheet. Add meat mixture. Roll out second sheet of pastry, place on top of pie. Crimp edges. Brush top with egg wash. Cut vents in top. BAKE 15 min. Reduce oven to 350 degrees, bake until crust is golden 25 min. SERVE & ENJOY...
