[SimplifyMe] 4-Layer 1-Color {Cake}

 

4-LAYER 1-COLOR CAKE---Each layer is the same color but goes from light green to dark green, you can use any color you like.
MAKES 8 SERVINGS.

FOR CAKE---
Unsalted butter
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup oil
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 3/4 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Green and Blue gel food coloring
FOR FROSTING---
8 sticks unsalted butter
Pinch of salt
10 cups powdered sugar, sifted
2 tbs vanilla
6 tbs milk
7 oz bag coconut, divide coconut among 3 plastic bags. Add an increasing number of drops of the same food coloring to each bag and shake.

MAKE CAKE---Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter four 9" round pans, line bottoms with parchment. Combine sugar and oil in a bowl, beat until thick and creamy. Beat in eggs, add vanilla, beat until batter is fluffy. *Sift flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl, beat flour mixture into sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk until batter is smooth. Divide batter between 4 bowls, tint one light green, one a little darker green, next one even darker green and last one dark green. Put one color in each pan. Bake until until done 15 min. Let cool 15 min. in pans, then invert. MAKE FROSTING---Beat butter and salt in a bowl until fluffy. Beat in powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla, beat until thick. Beat in milk until frosting is spreadable. ASSEMBLE CAKE---Spread 1 1/2 cups frosting between cake layers: Arrange layers from lightest green to darkest green. Cover outside of cake with remaining frosting, coat whole cake with coconut from lightest green to dark green. SERVE & ENJOY...
