STICKY TABLE TIP
An oak table sealed with polyurethane can become sticky if it's cleaned with all kinds of cleansers for a lot of years. Try pouring a little rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth and pick a small area to test. If this removes some of the residue, keep at it, you may need to scrub to get through the layers of gunk. Or try mineral spirits from the hardware store in the same way. If all else fails, you can always refinish the tabletop...
