SENSATIONAL TRUFFLES Makes 3 dozen or 18 servings.
Melt 8 semisweet chocolate squares. Beat 8 oz pkg softened cream cheese until creamy, stir in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm. Shape into 36 balls. Place on wax paper covered tray. Melt remaining 12 semisweet chocolate squares, dip truffles, return to tray. Decorate then refrigerate 1 hour, then SERVE...DECORATIONS--- Top with finely chopped peanuts or sprinkles. Or, coat truffles with powdered sugar or unsweetened cocoa powder instead of dipping in chocolate. Refrigerate leftovers.
VANILLA COOKIES Makes 5 dozen.
Mix 3 1/4 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt in bowl. Beat 1 1/3 cups softened butter, 1 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 cup light brown sugar in bowl until light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs and 4 tsp vanilla, mix well. Beat in flour mixture until well mixed. Stir in 12 oz pkg semisweet chocolate chips and 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in 375° oven 10 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 min. Remove to wire racks, cool completely, then SERVE...
