[SimplifyMe] Onion Spaghetti (Pie)

 

ONION SPAGHETTI PIE---with Cheese.
MAKES 8 SERVINGS.

1 tbs olive oil
3 onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tbs thyme leaves
1/2 tsp sugar or Splenda
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
3 tbs butter, melted
1 1/2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
4 eggs
2 cups lowfat milk
1/2 cup white wine
1 pound spaghetti

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Heat pot of salted water to boiling. In skillet, heat oil. Add onions, thyme, garlic, sugar and 1 tsp salt. Cook covered 10 min. In bowl, combine crumbs, 2 tbs butter and 1/2 cup Gruyere. In bowl, whisk eggs, milk, 1 cup Gruyere and 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper, set aside. *Uncover skillet. Cook until golden. Add wine and 1 tbs butter. Cook until wine is reduced by half. Cook spaghetti for half the time label directs. Drain, return to pot. Stir in onion mixture and egg mixture. Transfer spaghetti to skillet. Top with crumbs. Bake 30 min. or until eggs are set. SERVE & ENJOY...
