One of them portrays a man on his knees to the gates of Heaven, squashed under a massive book with receipts falling out of it.
Someone translated the text for me and this is the apparent (but not necessarily accurate)meaning of the poster:
The gates of Heaven represent the man's trading in fruit. He sold fruit at a higher price than the state had set so he had made more for himself. He was put in prison and not released because they knew he would go back to stealing. The book represents the weight of evidence against him ie how much he stole.
