[SimplifyMe] Nutty Maple {Cake}

 

NUTTY MAPLE CAKE
MAKES 8 SERVINGS.

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp maple syrup
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
CANDIED WALNUTS---
1 tbs unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 tbs maple syrup
1/4 tsp salt
FROSTING---
2 cups unsalted butter
5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup half and half
3 tbs maple syrup

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line bottoms of 3 greased round baking pans with parchment, grease paper. In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until blended. Add eggs, beat well. Beat in maple. IN another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Transfer to pans. Bake 13 min. or until done. Cool in pans 10 min. Remove. FOR CANDIED WALNUTS---In a skillet, melt butter. Add walnuts, cook until nuts are toasted. Stir in maple and salt, cook 1 min. Spread on foil to cool. FOR FROSTING---In a bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in powdered sugar, maple, salt and enough cream to reach desired consistency. Place one cake layer on a plate, spread with 1 cup frosting. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup walnuts, drizzle with 1 tbs maple syrup. Repeat layers. Top with remaining layer. Frost top and sides of cake. Top with remaining walnuts and syrup. SERVE & ENJOY...
