Re: [SgFreecycle] [OT] Super Typhoon Haiyan

Hello all,

I apologize for my very late response on this thread. I was in my hometown for the past few weeks since my last e-mail to this list. The place where I grew up is already flat. I didn't even know that there's a mountain at the back of our house until this disaster happened. We may have lost our house but I am still thankful that my mom is alive and the rest of my relatives on both my father's and mother's side. Except of course of my one year old niece from my father side who is still missing as of this day.

Now, I am in Metro Manila, Philippines looking for tarpaulin (8 meters x 8 meters in size) that I can use to build a tent for our temporary shelter. It is already enough to cover ourselves from the rain and the heat of the sun.

If you still have anything to donate, please address it to:

Engr. Raul "Bebot" Cayaco
Barangay Chairman
San Joaquin, Palo, Leyte
Philippines 6501
Mobile Phone Number: +63 918 533 4207

Sadly, since this disaster happened until 30 November 2013 when I left for Manila, our people received the relief only once from our government and that only contains 2 kilograms of rice and 2 small cans of sardines for every household. Mind you, that was after a week from the disaster happened. So how they were able to survived from hunger during that week if they only received the relief from the government only after a week of the disaster? Imagine if there were 5 people in every household. I don't even think that the relief will even last for two days. How about those families with infants and/or toddlers who were still dependents to milk? How about those people who were allergic to some kind of foods or ingredients?

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Marvin

This is for precaution for anyone who is donating for typhoon yolanda victims.  Pls make sure you know the person in charge over Philippines side, like Red Cross Society or the Embassy.

I would have second thoughts sending thru lbc, how would we know the items are delivered to the victims and etc...  i am writing this because i had a bad experience with lbc when i was helping the Sendong victims before, the items was not send to and for the victims.  I was there in the Philippines when the items was misused and i had taken photos of the lbc staff and the items.

I am not makiing this a big issue but this is just for generous people out there who are donating especially cash, pls sent it direct to Red Cross Society.

Thank you
