Camera Donation Call
The workshops for InsideOut IV have commenced and this year, we are holding two workshops. One on Sundays and another on Fridays with the residents of HOME's shelters for migrant workers in need.
We are still looking for cameras, especially for the participants from HOME. So if you have recently upgraded your camera and wondering what to do with your old one, please donate it to us.
The only requirements are:
- The camera needs to be at least 4 megapixels.
- The camera needs to be in good working condition
- The battery should still be working and come with the charger
- The camera should be using rechargable batteries and not regular lithium batteries
- It would be appreciated if other accessories (such as memory cards) can be included as well.
All donors will be acknowledged at the exhibition of the images which is expected to happen from mid to end September this year.
Alternatively, it would be even better if you could donate $250 for a new camera. We need 8 cameras in total and only have 3 at present - so
participant currently have to share.
You can donate a camera to:
Objectifs
56A Arab Street
11am to 7pm on Weekdays
12 to 6pm on Saturdays
Closed on Sundays.
Alternative arrangements can also be made.
If you'd like to donate money for us to buy a camera, please drop us an email at support@migrantvoices.org.
Do note that the cameras will only be lent to the participants and will be the property of Migrant Voices. We will use the cameras for subsequent workshops as well.

About the Project
No child dreams of becoming a maid or a construction worker. But driven by poverty and a lack of opportunities, waves of Asians take on such work every year. In Singapore, migrant workers build our infrastructure, clean our homes and help raise our children. But we know little of their stories and the dreams that inspire them.
InsideOut is a project by Migrant Voices and Objectifs - Centre for
Filmmaking and Photography, that aims to allow the audience to see Singapore through the eyes of migrant workers to foster mutual understanding. Professional photographers will guide migrant worker participants on using photography to document their own daily lives. The final works by the migrant workers will be exhibited at the end of the year.
As this project is a non profit effort, we need your help with the donation of digital cameras, which will be used by the migrant worker participants.
This is the 4th run of this ongoing project to bring photography to migrant workers. It was originally started in 2005 by a group of photojournalists, which was presented at the 2006 M1 Singapore Fringe Festival. The project was adopted by Migrant Voices and Objectifs in 2009 and was presented as part of the Month of Photography in 2009 and 2010.
