I have recently taken apart an Ikea flatpack bed. I think it was the Malm frame here(http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S99887651/), but it's an old version - it's low, birch veneer, much less pronounced side-sections and it has NO headboard.
I've taken it apart and put it back together a couple of times, and it's reasonably easy. Some parts are missing, including a couple of slats, but there's never been an issue with stability. I'm getting rid of it because I recently inherited a double bed for my spare room and don't have anywhere to put this one.
I have the mattress too, which anyone is welcome too, it's still comfortable but it's definitely seen better days! If you're interested, drop me an email letting me know when you can pick up, and if you would like the mattress too.
