Re: [SimplifyMe] The Truth About the Flu Shot

I am so sorry for your loss. If I went thru what you have maybe I would feel the same way. I am grateful I haven't been thru it.

Think about this tho, the flu shot isn't infallible. They use strains of flu that they feel will be sweeping the continent. They have no idea for sure what strain you will contract.

Also, what I have been told they are using are dead and sometimes live strains that may actually give you the flu. If that is the truth then giving her the flu shot itself could cause trouble.

I haven't had the flu in years. I make my contact with people limited, physical contact anyway...lol. I also endorse strict hand-washing. I use soap, but have been known to use hand sanitizer when I couldn't get to a bathroom. I also work to keep my immune system running as well as possible. I don't want to push it but I do want to be exposed to some bacteria and viruses so I can keep my immune system up to date. I feel it is like your antivirus program on your computer. It needs to be updated every so often so that it can know what to look for and fight against.

Again I want to state I am so so sorry for the loss you and your family have suffered. I have lost family members and it's devastating. I hope you can all grow closer to each other during this awful time.

I don't post on here very often but this post I had to reply. I just want people to know that the Flu KILLS!!!!! My HEALTHY, beautiful, Godly 18 yr old daughter DIED Sunday, Dec 26, 2010 of the FLU! She woke up Friday morning with chills, fever, aches and pains. I told her that I thought she had the flu, tried to call the doctor but they was closed for the holidays. I thought that she would be fine because we all have had the flu before with no complications... well...we was WRONG!! To make a long, horrible story short....after 2 hospitals...she DIED with in 3 days! We had no indication that she was going to die. We only way we found out what killed her was through an autopsy. The type B FLU ATTACKED her heart....the experts said it was so aggressive that no matter how quickly the drs worked that nothing could have been done. She was healthy with no diseases, not overweight, worked hard with a very postive outlook on life . My youngest daughter has diabetes and my husband has CIDP; so they get the flu shot through their doctors. The rest of our family never did because we was healthy. I always thought that people with certain diseases and elderly people were the only ones that needed the flu shot, now my opinion has changed. Everyone needs the flu shot. If I knew that it could kill like this... I would have vaccinated my whole family like I did with all the other vaccines. But this along with everything else is just an opinion.. you need to do what is best for your family. BUT take it from a mother that had to bury her daughter, if I had of known this before...maybe she would have still been here with me. I know that if it was her time God would have taken her anyways, but I still believe her time was cut short by a ugly 3 letter word...FLU! I miss her terribly and I relive her death each and every day of my life.

Please do not take this for an argument... I just wanted people to know the other side of not taking the flu shot.
