This happened to me recently. Emails were going out under my name that contained attachments. I might not have noticed, but whoever was doing it was using every address in my contacts list and some of them were coming back as undeliverable (some were old that I had not removed). I did two things: 1. Opened a new email account with a new password. 2. Kept my old email address until I could notify everyone, but changed the password. So far this has worked out very well.
